Blogging is a good way of starting your online earnings. However, it is not that easy. You should be careful to avoid simple mistakes that can spell doom for your blog:
1. Blogging for Money: Blogging should not primarily be for the money. If you blog only for the money part, your blog will not survive for long.
2. Regular Updating: You should post regular updates on your blog, at least once every week. Blogs without updates become obsolete and traffic would drop drastically.
3. Personal Relationship: Blogging should kindle a personal relationship with reader. Just stating facts or reporting cannot make your blog a success.
4. Proofreading: Proofreading your blog is very essential. You should not avoid proofreading even if you are pressed for time. Small grammatical errors or spelling mistakes could cost a lot in terms of blog traffic.
5. Replying: While welcoming visitors on your blog, allow them to post their comments and suggestions. It is thereafter necessary for you to go through all comments and suggestions and reply them appropriately. Although you may not have to reply to every comment, you should do so for important ones.
6. Copying: You can gather required information from different blogs. However, you should present it in your original style. Copying literally from other blogs or information sources is against law.
7. Blogging with Others: Blogging alone cannot get you anywhere. While blogging, it is essential to connect to other bloggers. Visit their blogs, read them, and post your comments with links to your blog site. This helps you collect information about other bloggers and increase traffic at your blog through linking.
8. Not Search-Engine Friendly: Your blog should remain friendly to people and traffic at your site. You should not post articles and information that target search engine rankings alone. Coordinating with people is essential.
9. RSS Feed: Provide sufficient postings to cater to full RSS feed. This alone can increase your traffic at blog site.
10. Excessive Advertisements: Do not clutter your blog site with many advertisements. This dissuades people from visiting your blog.
